Former Wolves utility player Greg Halford has used his twitter account to reveal he 'laughed off' a bid to bring him back to Molineux earlier this month.

Halford joined Wolves from Reading in 2009, but struggled to impose himslef and left the club for Portsmouth on loan early in the 2010-11 season.

He joined the south coast club permanently in the summer of 2011 for a fee of around £1 million.

Halford said on his twitter account: 'Wonder if Wolves fans would like the fact I was asked to go back to Wolves but turned them down. It's actualy serious as well. I had a phone call about it a couple of weeks ago. I laughed. A lot!'

While at Molineux Halford didn't see eye-to-eye with then boss Mick McCarthy, who was furious when Halford revealed on his twitter account Wolves target Steve Sidewell, who ended up snubbing the club for Fulham, was in the stands with a view to a move.

'Greg said he was sat next to Sidwell. It was no great secret. They should call it Tw*tter — and anyone on it should be renamed! Too many tweets make a tw*t,' he told The Sun at the time.

'Did Greg intimate his future doesn’t lie at Wolves? The fact I only had 11 fit players and didn’t call him back doesn’t make that a secret either.'
