Five Become Four!

A place in the quarter final was up for grabs and nobody wanted to leave. But Christine apart I think they all felt that they were home and dry even though they couldn’t say that. Lisa and Brendan continued to wow the judges but underwhelm me. Her Ballroom was excellent. I just didn’t get her Cha Cha Cha. I think it was the music which put me off rather than her steps but for me it just didn’t hang together. Rachel and Vincent got another flurry of tens for their Waltz but I ....

Perfect 10!

People finally found something besides John’s exit to talk about as Rachel and Vincent got 40 out of 40 for their Foxtrot. Was it worth it? Well, yes. There was nothing at all wrong with the dance so a perfect score was justified. However I still think the Rumba was her finest moment and it is interesting to note that none of the past winners (as far as I can remember) have ever been in a dance-off, following this theme Rachel and Lisa will not be lifting the glitterball this ....

Sergeant Steps Down

Now if you have been reading my columns you you will be aware that I am not John Sergeant's biggest fan. I thought he should have step down from the competition, earlier if anything, because week by week great dancers would leave the competition as John would murder another of Kristina's wonderfully choreographed dances. He has now released a statement saying he has withdrawn from the competition. The statement read: "It was always my intention to have fun on the show and I was hoping to stay in ....

Losing Our Cherie!

I am still annoyed and a little bit sad that Cherie and James have become the latest casualty of the John Sergeant campaign. Yes John’s was better this week with an American Smooth but, really, he couldn’t have got much worse. I have nothing against John Sergeant but it would have been kinder to let him go out on a good dance and a charming performance with Kristina than to make him attempt the Jive or the Salsa as he will now have to try next week. I almost wanted Cherie and James ....

Thinning The Herd!

Week eight and now it’s getting serious. Half way through the series it has finally become a real competition where almost everyone has a shot at winning it, John and Heather aside. Lisa has risen through the ranks and is looking better every week. Her Viennese Waltz with Brendan was effective and surprisingly dramatic, which was pleasing to me as I’m not really a fan of the Waltz. Erin found Austin’s sensual side and brought it out. I thought their Rumba was probably the best ....

Mourning Mark

First of all I must apologise for the delay and make a confession-I missed one of the Saturday shows for football! I sky +’d the show but it did not record and I returned home just in time to catch the round-up. To make-up for my slip-up I bring you a bumper edition of my column, so let’s get going. Week Six Round-Up: The judges seemed to have been in a foul mood (again!) and gave out very harsh comments but as I did not see the show I can’t really comment on the performances. ....

All About Tom!

As the boys and girls all danced for the first mixed Strictly this season, I couldn’t help but wonder why it was organised so that all the girls danced first followed by all the boys. Surely that defeated the object of mixing things up? Anyway, it was a night of mixed fortunes with some front runners slipping and a couple of others coming on leaps and bounds. Rachel Stevens’ Samba wasn’t quite as good as the judge’s expected it to be. To be fair to Rachel I think Vincent ....

Girls Girls Girls!

The girls were out in force last weekend and so were their, ahem assets! Whether the lovely ladies were all trying to compete with the impossibly gorgeous Ola Jordon, or the costume departments were simply feeling frisky, there was more cleavage on display than Noemi Lenoir manages to flash in every M & S advert. But it did not perk up the judges! While Craig Revel Horwood seems to have had a personality switch with Arlene, Len and even Bruno were unduly harsh. I really liked Christine and ....

Week three of Strictly saw the boys return to perform a Jive or a Tango, energetic kicking and flicking or mean and moody posturing whichever you prefer the boys provided it last night.Gary Rhodes aside there was nobody really bad left in the boys side of the competition.Andrew Castle still looks uncomfortable, actually he mostly just looks at Ola!His Tango, like Mark's was a little stiff and stilted rather than staccato, but he seems so nice that you start rooting for him anyway. He ended up ....

Here Come The Girls!

This weekend the girls took to the floor and... were surprisingly good!Gillian Taylforth who looked like another Kate Garraway in the group dance last week proved she could do an adequate foxtrot, although it was not enough to save her.Jodie Kidd also found herself in the dance off despite scoring a respectable 22, but kicked into a higher gear and polished her performance to survive.Lisa Snowden clearly can dance but seemed to be having trouble getting 'down and dirty' as Bruno and Arlene put ....

Finding Their Feet

Who has been eliminated, who should really have gone and why.I had some basic ballet lessons as a small child and have watched Strictly religiously for the ....
