Right! It's my second week in business! Wahey! All is going swimmingly so far, but it does mean it's now time for my 2nd "Record of the week" ramble.

This time I've chosen the new record by San Francisco Psych rock outfit, Wooden Shjips.

Released on Monday, "West" is the band's 3rd album proper and it really is a great record that hasn't been far from the turntable since it arrived in the shop a week ago.

Tracks like "Black Smoke Rise" and "Lazy Bones" are equal-parts Spacemen 3, Suicide and Neil Young having a lend of Stereolab's organ, while "Crossing" and "Lazy Bones" are very much a modern take on the East Coast  bands of old: The Doors, Crazy Horse and The Magic Band.

The band are part of a rising scene of new psychedelic rock coming out of San Francisco, along with bands like Gris Gris and Comets On Fire.

The album (and the band in general) are a must-hear if you are a fan of Suicide, Spacemen 3 and The Doors.
