This was the first time that I had seen this iconic hard rock Irish band but boy, they were worth the wait!

I mean that most sincerely as it was just ten minutes short of ten o clock before the band took to the stage!

Before I go into any detail of the Lizzy Experience, I would just like to give a wee shout out to a band formed in 2009 by ex Thunder guitarist Luke Morley and Peter Shoulder formerly of Winterville called, The Union.

The Union were a more that capable support act for a band like Thin Lizzy and this being the first time hearing the band and I am looking forward to hearing a lot more from these rockers during 2011.

The Union warmed the Glasgow crowd up nicely; it had after all been snowing in Glasgow as the gig approached!

The Thin Lizzy line up had obviously lost their leader and major influence when Phil Lynott passed away but this line up will never let him be far away from their hearts as they  continue touring and playing the hits that Phil wrote and loved playing to his adoring fans.

Images of the great man could be seen on the large screens at each side of the stage and the current line up rolled out hit after hit as if they were in fact paying their own personal tribute to the man.

The crowd and the academy was rocking and you could just feel that this was a special talent gone too soon but his spirit and the music will never die.

This current Thin Lizzy line up of Ricky Warwick, Vivian Campbell, Marco Mendoza, Darren Wharton, Brian Downey and Scott Gorham certainly give each song their own special touch but no matter the line up these classic songs would always and have always stood the test of time.

The place was almost bursting at the seams but the choir still managed to sing along as the songs kept coming.

It is only once you have heard the band live and then quickly rushed back to make sure you have the Live and Dangerous CD on your I-Pod, that you realise just what a great band they were and still are, and how great and talented Phil Lynott actually was!

By The time of the first bars of “Are You Ready?” hit our ears, the answer from the adoring Glasgow crowd could have been-you bet we are!

From then on you could hardly catch a breath as the classics kept pouring out like a good Jack and Coke, leaving you thirsting for more and boy did we get them!

“Do Anything You Want, Don’t Believe a Word, Waiting for an Alibi, Jailbreak and Dancing in the Moonlight” gave the crowd a taste of the Thin Lizzy hits and there was plenty more to come!

By the time they got round to “Still In Love With You, Whiskey In The Jar,Emerald,The Boys Are Back In Town, Rosalie and Bad Reputation”, you knew this was money well spent and an evening of good old fashioned classic rock songs had be dished up for your delight and pleasure and a pleasure it most certainly was!

The Boys Are Back In Town-you better believe it!

Don’t leave it so long or late next time guys, a fantastic night was had by all especially

Keith, Stevie and I, we maybe getting older and Glasgow was certainly getting colder but we would not have missed that for anything!

Phil Lynott-Still Rockin in Heaven, thank-you for the music!
