Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha arrrr man that result against the makems man wasn’t it a belter. It’s one I’ll remember for a long long time to come. For derbies I’ve been to it’s up there with 4-1 and even Chopra scored, and 2-1 and Any O’Brien Liam O’briens freekick past the hapless Carter. The sight of hundreds of inbred makems leaving for the exits long before the end of the game was a pleasure to be hold and the icing on the cake Titus ‘He’s a better player now’ Shambles being sent off for another rush of blood to head. All in all a good day and ‘The Longsands’ really gave the atmosphere a great lift before the game with a rendition of the Blaydon Races which is available as a download from www.thelongsands.co.uk in support of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.

Since that day the club has seen a down turn in results. The home form has been a worry to us all and the fixtures over the festive period are not exactly home bankers are they? This league is just as tight as is it was the last time we were in a relegation battle. With the exception of Wigan and West Ham at the time of writing who are adrift at the bottom it could be anyone of 10 teams filling that third bottom slot come May. You need a big squad and a team that goes out and gives it all they have got like we did at Arsenal, not a weakened squad who collapse like a pack of cards like we did at Bolton. We have all said it but this squad isn’t big enough to cope with any injuries and suspensions and boy are they coming thick and fast now. Barton, Colo, Williamson, Tiote are all big players to us and we need them on the pitch not in the stands. They have to screw their respective loafs on and make sure this is the last time we are without their services in what is going to be a very interesting second half to the season.

The ongoing saga with Chris Hughton looks set to be decided over xmas if we are to believe Mike Ashley And Co. The departure of Calderwood has left Chris without a wing man which has fuelled the uncertainty surrounding his job. Steve Stone has stepped into the breach temporarily it seems but the longer this situation goes on can only give the rumour mongers more to feed off. It needs to be sorted out now, I’d give Chris a 12 month rolling contract. It’s the least he deserves after a great season last time out and he has not disgraced himself so far this term. I think the lucky suit has run out of luck now though mate. Get back to the tracksuit and turn our season around.

The media have left us alone over the last 12 months but this recent attack on Carroll and Nolan in particular has left me with a nasty taste in my mouth. Gutter press journalism at its worse. Carroll is an easy target at the moment with one trial over and other possibly in the New Year but Nolan just seems to be in the frame and an easy target now because he’s our captain and Andys landlord. They love knocking us down at every opportunity and I just hope that the lads can ignore the lies written about them and adopt the siege mentality that served us so well in the Championship.

Toon Talk has reached Issue 3 and has been well received in all forms, Fanzine, Website, and of course our radio show which is now available on NE1FM every Thursday at 7pm till 9pm. If you live in the Newcastle to Durham area you should be able to here me and Gareth on your FM dial at 102.5 with various guests throughout the season. All that remains for me to say is Have a very Happy Christmas and Prosperous New Year.
