Here is a list of gigs for the following week - and even though we are well into November the mix of big names - Adam Ant, China Crisis and up and coming, BC Camplight etc just keep on coming our way.

FRIDAY 22nd November

CHINA CRISIS

ARC

8pm

Today’s Price

£23 + £0.10 booking fee

China Crisis were never your run-of-the-mill 80s pop band. Formed in Liverpool by singer Gary Daly and guitarist Eddie Lundon, they distilled their love of David Bowie and Steely Dan into an exquisitely melancholy post-punk sound that saw them win their just chart rewards. Has there ever been a more wistful Top 10 hit than the charming Wishful Thinking?

Their hero Walter Becker – of Steely Dan fame – was so impressed he even became a band member back in 1985, producing and playing on Top 10 album Flaunt the Imperfection, and returning for 1989’s hugely acclaimed Diary of a Hollow Horse. And, all the while, the hits kept rolling in… Christian, Black Man Ray and King in a Catholic Style all made their way into the UK Top 20.

With Gary and Eddie still present and correct – and joined by Jack Hymers keyboard and
Eric Animan sax - The RETROspective tour will see the band performing these classics alongside songs from all of their seven studio albums.

GLENN HUGHES PERFORMS CLASSIC DEEP PURPLE LIVE

MIDDLESBROUGH TOWN HALL

8:00pm

£27.50 +booking fee

Glenn Hughes, the former bassist and singer of Deep Purple, known to millions as the ‘Voice of Rock’, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the current frontman for rock supergroup Black Country Communion, is pleased to announce that he will be performing Deep Purple ONLY material on his hotly anticipated nationwide UK tour in November 2019.

Expect a dynamic, turn-back-the-clock, two-hour live extravaganza homage to his tenure in MK 3 and MK 4 incarnations of Deep Purple – one of music history’s most seminal and influential groups.

Deep Purple took a quantum leap when the then 20-year-old Glenn Hughes was seconded from British funk-rock outfit Trapeze in mid-1973. As bassist and co-vocalist (with David Coverdale), he helped steer the legendary rock group in the progressive direction of Burn, Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band, while touring the world for three years.

Glenn Hughes performs classic Deep Purple Live is the first time Glenn has performed a show solely of Deep Purple material since his last show with the band at the Liverpool Empire in early 1976. Not one to wallow in nostalgia – hence his extensive and varied career post-Purple – Glenn feels the time is right to acknowledge and pay homage to his past, his musical legacy, and, most importantly, to one of rock and roll’s most acclaimed, influential and successful bands.
