Just finished off a new fanzine – on sale on Saturday for Boro v QPR – Issue 593. Waiting to pick it up from the printers and then will be posting out to all subscribers.

This issue features an interview with Paul Smith of Maximo Park, telling is about how proud he felt to the be the main attraction at Middlesbrough Town Hall 130 year birthday party. He also gives us a run down of his favourite Boro moments.

Former Match of the Day editor, Paul Armstrong writes for us in the month of the publication of his debut book, Why Are We Always On Last? I had tea with Paul before we got drenched at Newport, which reminded us of the time his shoes fell to bits in the downpour at AZ Alkmaar. Mind you, we didn’t lose that tie.

We have a daring new lay out from the incredible comic genius that is Scott Turnbull. I tip this guy to kick on from his first two stage plays to become a big hit in alternative comedy, so delighted that he writes for us every issue.

There is extra cartoon antics from Roofus the Boro Dog and Jack also weighs in pouring scorn on current Boro issues. We have word picture in the form of a poignant poetic tribute to the late great Gordon Banks from our own word stopper, Jimmy “the kat” Flynn.

Speckget returns with Football Unfocussed after a mid season sabbatical. Loads and loads of other stuff and another bang on the money cover from Paddy Dillon with reference to politics of the week.

Oh and not forgetting a superb piece that will tug at your heart strings from author Mick Richardson, taking us back to the floodlit glories and crushing lows of Boro v Everton at Ayresome in 1988. If we thought we had it up and down at the moment just remember the final few minutes of that cup tie. Talk about a Boro roar and then stunned silence.

All this and far, far more from the kids are solid red and a bit white. Boro til we fry, or should that cry?

Come on Boro and Up The Boro.
