Boro players Jordan Hugill and Dael Fry have confirmed they will be in attendance at the opening of the Magical Middlesbrough Christmas tomorrow evening. The two local lads will be there to lend a hand as the fireworks hit the evening sky and the festive lights are switched on.

The preparations for Magical Middlesbrough Christmas 2018 have been captured in a captivating short film released ahead of the major launch event.

Middlesbrough Council have made a list and checked it twice to ensure their yuletide events calendar is ready before for the first event The Christmas Dream Machine: Turning on the Christmas lights on Thursday, November 22.

The official film offers a look behind the scenes at Middlesbrough children creating costumes for the Magical Middlesbrough Parade, the final touches being made to the Grotto in Captain Cooks Square and singers practicing their favourite Christmas songs for the Big Sing.

Cllr Mick Thompson, Middlesbrough Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Communities, said: “Magical Middlesbrough Christmas 2018 has been in the planning since January.

“It’s amazing to see everything coming together for a spectacular festive season for everyone in Middlesbrough to enjoy.”

The performance, in Middlesbrough’s Centre Square on Thursday, November 22 from 6pm-7.30pm, will be followed by a fireworks finale which will officially mark the beginning of the town’s Christmas festivities. Boro players Jordan Hugill and Dael Fry have also confirmed they will be in attendance.

The event is free and numerous car parks will be free from 4pm.

The Christmas Dream Machine has received support through Arts Council England’s National Lottery funded Project Grants programme.

Also confirmed for 2018 is the Magical Middlesbrough Parade, Santa’s Grotto, Festive Huts and the Town Centre Pop Up performances featuring The Big Sing.
