Boro can freeze Leeds United out of the play offs this evening by being too hot to handle at the Riverside. Let’s bounce back from that last minute disaster at SoL with a win in this winter wonderland game this evening. Kick off 7.45pm.

Boro may be without skipper Grant Leadbitter, currently fighting for fitness with a hamstring problem. It is probably not a night you would want to put a dodgy hamstring to the test. Old Leeds boy Adam Clayton will stand by. Don’t expect anything but full on performance from Clayts.

One player chomping at the bit to start is Adama Traore, reprieved from his 4 match ban and looking to tear strips off the Leeds flanks. Sunderland couldn’t live with him and had to turn to foul means to stop him taking on and beating 2 or 3 players at a time. Hopefully all the pent up emotion from his wrongful dismissal can be focussed on this game and making mincemeat of our opponents in snow white.

Patrick Bamford is bang on form. His brace and Sunderland and general play showed he has every intent on making that centre forward shirt, vacated by the injured Gestede, his own. The former Chelsea loan star can start to turn the clock back to season 2014/15. There is still time for him to rise up to the top of our goal charts and fire Boro into that final play off spot.

We must tighten up at the back; no more soft goals as we saw shipped against Cardiff as well Sunderland. Discipline and steel throughout the team is the order of the day.

Paul Heckingbottom’s team are only 3 points back from us but a defeat tonight would make that a bit of chasm. We need to stop any hopes of a West Yorks revival right here, right now. Leeds have beaten us too many times of late. That trend has to come to an end in the Teesside tundra tonight.

It won’t be warm this evening, wrap up well. Here is a little podcast offering to listen to on what will probably be a longer match journey than usual. Oh and do look out for the fanzine tonight being dispensed by a no-doubt frozen seller. Just two sellers in fact. Leigh will be down at the subway by the cinema car parks and I will be in my usual place between Shepherdson Way bridge and the entrance to the car parks, on the main drag into the station. Due to weather there will not be anyone on the Nav side of the stadium tonight.

Here is our podcast for you. Recorded this morning before we were certain the match was going on. Also apologies to all the volunteers that toiled away at clearing the snow from the car parks etc of the Riverside. I had not realised when recording this. I hope you enjoy it.
