As I went to check my emails earlier this week I could not believe my eyes the Boro had sent me a message to see if I wanted to sign up to be amongst the first to receive the news of who we would be playing in the Championship.

Wow! The subtlety is immense! Do they realise we are still coming to terms with relegation?

I know we have to move on etc etc etc and prepare for the coming season in the Championship but who we play and when we play them is irrelevant at this moment in time and will be until the day before the first game of the season.

Apologies to fans of teams in the Championship but I cannot bring myself to get excited at the prospect of the first game of the season drawing us against Doncaster Rovers or away to Swansea City on Boxing Day.

I simply do not care. Harsh but the hurt of relegation is still a sore point! Am I the only one?

I am more concerned with who we will be able to keep at the club for the coming season and what the clubs plan is to spend on new players, what the new Adidas kits will look like and will the club look to bolster a very fragile coaching team with some much needed Iron (read we need men of iron).

Then to receive the privilege of the ‘Gold Package’ text messaging service they will charge you for 25 pence per text received. I just think this is a poor marketing technique at the very wrong time for the fans and appears to be based on generating income through an insensitive approach.

The fixtures were released the day after this special message alert on the internet and through the written press. And then the new home strip the day after that. I for one was totally underwhelmed about the whole thing and I’m sure most of you didn’t lose a night’s sleep wondering when the mite of Barnsley will be visiting the Riverside.

It is a tough time for many people for many reasons namely swine flu, credit crunch and job redundancies. Maybe the club could have followed the lead of Villarreal in Spain and given free season tickets to the unemployed!

That surely would have been a nice gesture under the circumstances.

We love you Boro we do Oh Boro do you love us too?
