The End Is Nigh

As the pain and heartache of Monday nights' horror show at St James' Park still sticks in the throat of the Boro faithful, the question has to be asked...

Is the end Nigh?

A famous saying to allegedly coincide with the end of the world namely in the comic book film adaptation era that we find ourselves in.

This week has proven extremely hard to deal with and the lack of motivation within the town and surrounding areas is obvious. This is backed up by Corus and the pending job cutting of thousands.

What as Boro fans do we have to look forward to? Preston away? Blackpool for a weekend? A cup match against a top-flight team?

Yes we aren't yet relegated but this Saturday brings this as a mathematical possibility as we look to entertain Aston Villa at the Riverside.

Should results go our way then we live to fight to the final weekend of the Premier League season. Should results go against the Boro and this is a strong possibility then relegation to the Championship will be confirmed.

This will lead to an even gloomier couple of months on Teesside if not years as the plight of our beloved club is far from certain in an era of teams leaving the top-flight, never to return and financial obscurity just around the corner.

This couldn't happen to us again could it?

For the pessimists the game is up and we are down. For the ever optimistic we believe, even if only it’s a 1% chance, that we can still do it.

Come on Boro give us a fighting chance and at least give us a performance we deserve.

My head tells me we won't but whilst my heart keeps beating I'll believe in my team!
