Christiano Ronaldo the hot topic on most transfer talk at the moment. Is he or isn’t he in talks with Real Madrid? This is the biggest question in most fans minds. The truth is there is not simple answer to the question. Today it seems a Brazilian website (Terra) is claiming to have had an exclusive interview with Ronaldo. Now looking at the statement as quoted here: "I would like to play for Real Madrid but only if it is true they are ready to pay what Manchester United ask of them…" Personally I see this statement as more a statement of feelings than intentions, he is not saying that he wishes to leave United, nor is he saying he wants to leave for Real Madrid. He is saying he would like to play for Real Madrid but understands this beyond his control, especially with his contract obligations which I hav no doubt he would fulfil.

Looking at Ferguson’s previous comments I see little hope for this happening in the near future. Real have aggravated the whole issue by publicly declaring interest over and over as well as leaking this information to a select few Spanish newspapers. Ferguson also seems to have the mighty Glazers behind him. The six Glazer children who attended the champions league final in Moscow are taking a fairly active role in the club though still leaving the managing to Ferguson. He previously commented about how good the Glazers’ were as owners, I agree with him, since their controversial takeover back in 2005 we have had 2 very progressive seasons. Regarding Christiano Ronaldo, I expect they would rather see him rot in the stands than lose him to one of United’s biggest rivals in Europe. The big difference will be whether he wishes to play for United anymore or not, a question I cannot answer, hopefully we will have a clear definite answer come the beginning of the season.

Well Roque Santa Cruz seems extremely interested in moving to United after hinting to reporters that United had made him an offer, though still nothing official as to a signing. The 27 year old striker would be a solution to United’s centre forward issue for a few years at least though not a long term solution. This comes after Hughes left Blackburn, Cruz's current club. In the longer run United are hot on the heels of Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff, who only recently became the youngest player to play in a FA Cup Final at only 17 years old. Reports are that a transfer fee has been agreed between the clubs and he is expected to arrive in Manchester within the next 2 days for talks with Ferguson and the club.

Mark Hughes has taken over Manchester City with a big £50m spend for the smaller club from Manchester and he seems determined to swoop Ronaldinho from Barcelona, though more realistically is likely to sign the other Brazilian Jo for a figure around £18million. He is also possibly bringing a number of his old Blackburn staff with him. Isakson still wanting out of Eastlands, Hughes’ appointment not changing his mind. He is apparently linked with a possible move to Fulham over the summer though again only news after the Euro has finished as that is his main focus at the present time.
