The end of May or the start of June, brings the Euro 2008. With the first match taking place next Saturday the 7th of June and the group games running through till the 18th of June. No England in this year’s Euro matches, meaning that United have few players taking part. This is going to be a long season for those players who are taking part like Christiano Ronaldo who after playing Premier and Champions league games went back to Portugal to train and prepare for the forthcoming matches. Spain and Germany seem the hot favourites in this 2008 competition, but would never rule out the likes of Italy and Portugal. In reality it should be a closely fought tournament lets hope it produces some more stars.

With Real Madrid expressing a public interest in signing Ronaldo creating the most interesting fiasco in the transfer market at United. Ronaldo is currently contracted to United till 2012 and after winning a double with United this season didn’t seem to have any interest in moving clubs. When United where bought out by the Glazers back in 2005 we all had our doubts about the motives, were they in it for pure profit especially with them not being locals or avid football supporters. Though Ferguson has been singing their praises quoted as saying to the BBC : “They have been good to this club. They have been brilliant owners.” The Glazers seem in no hurry to get rid of the young superstar and will go to all lengths to keep him at United. United have never been a club that regularly buys and sells players especially stars, when they still have a future with the club.

Manucho the player to watch this season. Ferguson expecting to get a work permit for him second time around after being denied last time as he never played in 75% of Angola’s games. Manucho in talking to various reporters seems confident of starting pre-season training on the 1st of July and is claiming that he would wear no other shirt than that of United. He has been on loan to Panathinaikos and has scored one goal in his eight appearances with them.

Pique is the first player to leave United post season. Returning to Barcelona after being signed from them only a season or two ago.
