City Suffer Narrow Defeat-ish

Dear me that was bad. When I entered the Riverside I was in good spirits and really looking forward to the game ahead and having a party. I suppose its a small mercy that we got to enjoy a party as the game was utterly horrific. And even worse is that Fulham are now trying to nab our European spot. The opening exchanges were pretty low key and the game only burst to life when Dunne misjudged the ....

Fulham Stun City

Stephen Ireland and Benjani Mwaruwari had given the hosts a 2-0 lead within twenty-one minutes, and though Fulham looked resigned to relegation by the game’s midway point, Kamara and Danny Murphy ensured the relegation battle will go down to the wire. Roy Hodgson’s men had won their last game on the road, their first away win of the season, but the North Londoners had never won back-to-back games during their Premiership tenure. The home side still had a possible fifth-placed ....

Shocking Defeat

Yeah I know we had injuries and yeah I know they were desperate for a win but that was awful. How could we let a 2 goal lead slip away against a team 2nd bottom of the league?! And with only 20 ruddy minutes to go?! We didn't start superbly, young Joey Hart had to keep us in the game a few times (again!).  But when Mr Ireland curled in a beauty the game changed and we started to look the part. Knocking it about pretty nicely. Then Benji ....

Vassell Thunderbolt Secures Win

A late Darius Vassell corker secured the 3 points for City up at the Stadium of Light. The first 79 mintues passed by quietly with City not really doing much. Sunderland didn't do much for that matter; and when they did muster an attempt on goal the once again excellent Joe Hart was more than equal to it. The game burst into life in the 79th minute when young Sturridge was "fouled" in the box by Sunderland's brutish centre half, Nyron Noseworthy ("The Nose" to his ....

Chelsea Stroll To Win

The deck chairs are well and truly out. City suffered another defeat as the season meanders to it's conclusion. 3 wins in 16 is not good enough. The truth is City never really looked like challenging the Manyoo chasing Chelsea. From the moment Dunne prodded the ball past Hart to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead City never looked like getting anything from the game, despite creating the occasional chance. The game was put beyond the Blues when, thanks to a lucky break, the ball fell ....

Terrible. Truly Shocking.

Anyone who kindly read my Blue Review would know I spoke very highly about City and this season, the players, the managers and I must admit I went into the Birmingham game quite confident. Not highly confident, it is City after all, but I really thought today was the day Elano would come good, Petrov would rinse Stephen Kelly time and time again, who knows Svennis may well abandon the one up front and go for it and we would come away with 3 points. That confidence started to dwindle as soon as ....

"we Should Have Done Much Better Than That"

That was the view of City supremo Sven Goran Eriksson, who was visibly annoyed when quizzed on his side's lacklusture display: "If we want to talk about European football next season, we can't lose as many balls like we did today. Even when we were under no pressure, we gave the ball away. "We should have done much better than that. If you concede two goals like we did, you will also never win a game in the Premier League" , Eriksson fumed to Match of ....

Derby Delight

Manchester City put Manchester United's title hopes to a halt for the moment as City surprisingly beat United at Old Trafford by 2 goals to 1. There were not many chances in the early stages of the match, but on 25 minutes Martin Petrov slid a ball through the United defence into the path of Stephen Ireland who hit the ball against Edwin Van Der Sar, and the ball came out to Darius Vassell who volleyed the ball left footed against Van Der Sar, the ball managed to find its way back to Vassell ....

City's Home Record Ruined By Arsenal

Emmanuel Adebayor scored twice to ruin Man City's unbeaten record at home in a 3-1 victory for Arsenal. Adebayor scored first as the ball eventually scraped it's way over the line after Micah Richards got a half block to the ball. Adebayor nearly scored again but for an acrobatic save from Joe Hart from his powerful header. Arsenal's second came from a crossed ball by Gael Clichy and Adebayor nodded it down to Eduardo who acrobatically finished from a good Arsenal move but the goal ....

City Held To Derby

City were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw against struggling Derby despite Danny Sturridges full debut goal. Darius Vassell missed two simple chances in the first half which would have put the put the game beyond doubt. Derby improved towards the break and just after half time Kenny Miller's shot deflected of Sun Jihai and rolled beyond Joe Hart. Danny Sturridge converted Martin Petrov's cross and from then on City dominated and should of got the winner. Sven said: "In the first half ....

Manchester City 1 - 1 West Ham United

City have drawn 1 -1 after coming from behind from a Carlton Cole spectacular overhead kick. West Ham took the lead early in the game when Freddie Ljunberg squared the ball across to Carlton Cole who chipped the ball up and did a brilliant overhead kick.  Shortly after City got the equaliser when Petrov whipped a ball in after his corner had been cleared and the ball eventually fell to Darius Vassell in a goal mouth scramble who poked it home, West Ham may complain it was offside ....

City Manage To Hold Liverpool

Manchester City survived a second-half onslaught to prevent Liverpool ending 2007 with three league wins in a row. Fabio Aurelio came closest to opening the scoring with a long range scorcher after a tight and cagey first half. Fernando Torres was unable to take advantage of 2 excellent chances after the interval. Dirk Kuyt had a amazing opportunity when the ball came across to him from about 3 yards out but was denied by a combined effort from Joe Hart's tip and Richard Dunne's brilliant ....

Man City Vs Bolton Wanderers Review

Manchester City preserved their 100% home record in the Premier League by beating battling Bolton.  Rolando Bianchi scored the first goal when city capitalised from a Ricardo Gardner mistake.
