In the second of our new series of articles the one and only Chris Hulme has caught up with another Silkmen fanatic in the form of RYAN GRANT who gives his own unique views on the questions asked which we hope that you will enjoy!!

How old were you when you attended your first Macclesfield Town game and who did you go with?

My dad took me to my first game shortly after we moved to Macc in 2003. I must have been about 10 at the time, but remember it well even now. The following year marked the start of the Parkin-Tipton strike partnership, and I've got great memories of watching them play.

What do you think of John Askey's transfer dealings this season?

Well, that's a tough one to answer because he's got his hands tied to an extent. With the money available to him, I think he's done brilliantly. It's clear that John's got an eye for good players, and the ones he's brought in have really impressed me, especially Kristian Dennis in his second spell here.

What do you think of the season so far after playing 20 matches?

It really feels like we've turned a corner after a slow start. I think it's fair to say this league is as unpredictable as ever, and I'm yet to be blown away by any of the sides that have come to the Moss Rose this season. With that in mind, a bit of consistency could go a long way. After last year, I think it's vital we take things one game at a time, but I'm encouraged by the football we're playing at the moment.

If there is one player from the National League you could sign for Macclesfield Town, who would it be and why?

Good question. There really isn't much I'd change about the current side! I think teams like Cheltenham are pretty well-equipped to go back up, so maybe you'd pick out one of their more experienced players. Dennis is only on loan at Macc though so, on a technicality, I'm going to say him. He's fantastic.

What would you like to see the club do for a better match day experience?

That new state-of-the-art stadium would be nice! In all seriousness though, I love the family atmosphere around the club and think its traditions are what make it a great place to visit on match days.

Where do you think Macclesfield Town will finish this season?

If we can hold on to our best players, I think there's no reason why the play-offs shouldn't represent a realistic target this season. We came so close last year, and that experience could motivate the players to go one step further this time around. Maybe I'm biased, but I think this club belongs in the Football League. The fans have been amazing by supporting the club both in the terraces and in a financial sense, so I hope we can push on now.

Who are your best players to have been brought in by John Askey?

Though he didn't physically sign him, you often hear Askey credited for spotting Rickie Lambert's goal-scoring talents and turning him into a striker, so I suppose it's difficult to look past him! More recently, I think the signing of George Pilkington from Mansfield was a great one. He's a rare breed, especially at this level, and hasn't looked back since scoring on his debut last year.

Many thanks Ryan and enjoy the rest of the season
