First home game tomorrow.

Any changes predicted?

If the injury situation is still the same, then I can only see the same XI being picked.

Who's going?

Buck and Ireland still out PFW said. Whether Williams is ready, fit or match fit is another story.

Hants had a left armer that was swinging it and wondered whether Taylor should have been given the nod so it is either same 11 or Taylor for Ollie.

Not going yet but hope to get down soon.

I'd go with Taylor, bowling variation and bowls tighter than most of our others which after last week we need and he can bat.

I thought Taylor was overlooked too many times last season.

I assumed that he was replaced by Freckingham due to injury as the selection made no sense to me otherwise.

Wyatt out tomorrow and Williams added to the squad. Can't see us opening with Ollie so Williams for Wyatt and Taylor for Ollie? This bowling attack and injuries so early on is quite something.

Went down until lunch and we didn't look very threatening but we've knocked four more wickets down after lunch!

Still disappointed that Taylor has been left out again.

I thought young Freckingham looked quite a handful - a promising start to his first team career!

Freckingham - I thought he had decent pace and a good action and looked promising.

The majority of short balls he sent down though were punished.

I would have preferred him being part of a stronger attack but he now has a lot of responsibility due to injuries.

Great to see the batting doing so well.

Sorry, I have to gloat here as the only Matt Boyce supporter last year. He finished last season well and seems to be settling nicely into that no 6 spot.

Need to get those bowlers fit now.,it always looked a bit lightweight anyway and now Hoggard's gone and done something. Anyone know what?

At least there's a bit of a break now to work on them although it seems Buck's out for another month. Bit of a sick note reputation developing there...

Sorrel, heard that Hoggy has done an old hip injury.

Boyce as an opener is a disaster but turned it round somewhat batting in middle order last season. He isn't good enough as an opener and disagreed with his inclusion for the last few seasons. I do think last season showed that he gives the middle order a stability and as you may see in my predictions, I think he will be the surprise of the season with 1200 runs.

On to today. I flip between relief, elation and pleasure at a group doing well and then disappointment as to our approach. Brilliant to see the batting perform but have to say that the slowness on what appears a very good batting track has cost us bonus points as well as a chance to win a game. It seems to me that they are trying so hard not to lose that they don't try and win. Last night Sarwan and Boyce were playing for time and in the first 52 overs (I think it was) today Boyce got 44 runs. When a player is in on such a situation you would hope that he could push on a bit quicker, but as I say there seems to be an emphasis on not losing more than winning when there is a chance to try for the later.

Kent were far more positive than we were an I would say that we should have pushed on to get to another batting point at least or try and push the game along. We don't seem to impose ourselves when the game is therefore for us to do just that. Certainly Naik's 3 off of 31 balls is utterly bewildering.

It seems that there is a lack of PMA. Where that comes from I don't know. Whether it is where we set our sights? Confidence after last week? coaching? Kent may have bowled great and really imposed themselves on the game at a point that they really shouldn't.

Probably a bit over critical but feel that we have missed the chance for more points with a PMA.

Looking at it more postively, I thought that we had a good batting line up and they have now had a chance at the wicket and all have 50's so far this season apart from Cobb. Kent are a team that will challenge and so to take form with the bats that we have into other games then who knows and that may rub off on the bowlers???

Well done Boycey and Shiv.

Good points Glenny. I wasn't there and just picked up the scores when I got home from work and was delighted to see a couple of tons.

To be honest I don't care too much about run rate just now; I reckon that will come with confidence.

But what about the bowling? Hoggy out for weeks? Taylor into the frame and Frecky having to lead the pack? Even at this stage maybe a loan is an option

Sorrel, yes I agree which is why is was between disappointment an elation. 2 middle order tons is unheard of which has to be good for them, the team and for the season (providing they make use of the form).

Bowling wise is, it is drastic. Williams seemed to show up well in the first innings but it is early to judge him (Joseph did well in his first match) Taylor has to come in I think but we need another. How about making it really dry and playing Hendo and Naik?

Gloucs at home on 30th April. 10 days for Wyatt and Ireland to get fit?

The Uni game will come at a good time for us, firstly it gives much needed time for some of those injured players to recover and secondly it gives more experience to Freckingham/Williams etc.

Weather looks good this morning, will be interesting to see if either team is interested in the win or will just play out for a draw.
