Is the rumour. Fraser has been in touch apparently.

Boyce to bat higher up the order next year then.

So that will be another player who doesn't see out his contract then. This is what frustrates me the most about cricket.
I don't expect a massive transfer fee but I would expect a decent sum for players under contract (or young enough to be similar to a Bosman in football) so that we would actually be rewarded for the players we bring through or develop. Broad, Taylor and Gurney to name but 3...

And now for tomorrow and the squad.
No Hoggard, bye bye
No Cobb, arguing with fans on twitter...give me strength. Bye bye??
No Thakor, dropped I assume due to woeful recent form. Talent drained out of him by the County.
No Sarwan for the rest of the season due to this 'hand injury'. Personally I'd be surprised if we saw him again next year.

But its not all bad. I'm reassured by Paul Hayward's letter to members. The acquisition of the ice cream trolley is a coup for the club not to mention new pvc windows.

Unfortunately I missed any reference as to why we went into the season with a time expired seam bowler and a time expired slow bowler as the senior attack. Hayward mentions that Hoggard got injured in the third game of the season - I bet that most members were surprised he lasted that long.

Clearly the club hierarchy are feeling sorry for themselves - and so they should. As mentioned elsewhere losing Davidson and Smith reduced the conflict element but it also removed any positive leadership.

However, give credit where it is due. It takes some nerve to present the re-shuffling of a failed bunch of coaches as a re-structure. Or is it simply irreversible self-delusion.

As I'm not a member I wasn't sent a letter.......however.......my dad is, so imagine my surprise when I read the end of term report with emphasis on excuses.

They really are clutching at the smallest of straws, but as mentioned, at least the ice cream trolleuy with be available tomorrow when the temperature is 9 degrees!!.

Can someone put details of the letter on here or is it too much to do?

Heard Ben Smith yesterday saying that now that the pressure is off the players they are free to perform. You could not make it up. Do they waste a vast amount of revenue on Alistair Campbell or another spin doctor to write this stuff? Expectation and pressure to deliver at LCCC is lower than any other club both in team and individual performance.

To be honest - it would have been more use if Ben Smith had been brought back with a short term playing contract than as a batting coach.

The sights have been set far too low in coaching appointments which are critical to the club's present and future progress.

Whilst on players still with a bit to offer. Darren Maddy could still do a job anywhere in the batting line up and would add something to the club in terms of experience.

The delusion of the committee and the coaches is probably their best way of getting by.

I'd be quiet happy if Boyce batted further up the order....say at 0?

Boyce gets singled out for stick but the problem is that he typifies all that is wrong with LCCC. A player who is second team standard where he would accumulate lots of runs as he would in the Everards premier but he is picked year after year by the County and even gets to captain the side. He isn't the worst bat in county cricket but there can't be many who having been so mediocre for so long keep having their contract renewed. We simply fail to set the right standards.
