Rumours are rife today that contract negotiations have stalled with Adam Clayton, Clayton’s deal ends in the summer of 2013 so there’s time to sort that one out.  More worrying is that Jonny Howson hasn’t signed a deal and looks set to leave on a Bosman at the end of the season.  Aidy White hasn’t signed and the word on the street is that he’ll also be on his way.

We’ve lost Bradley Johnson, Jermaine Beckford and Neil ‘Killa’ Killkenny on Bosmans in recent seasons.  So it’s understandable why our fans are getting twitchy at the prospect of losing our two best central midfielders and our best left back on free transfers.

Who else could be on their way at the end of this season?

1.       Jonny Howson

2.       Ben Parker

3.       Aidan White

4.       Alex Cairns

5.       Nathan Turner

6.       Lewis Turner

7.       Andros Townsend (On loan from Spurs)

8.       Darren O’Dea/r  (on loan from Celtic)

9.       Alex Bruce

10.   Michael Brown

11.   Lloyd Sam

Howson, White are the obvious first teamers that need to be retained.  Townsend would be a great addition but Spurs are never going to let him go, surely? O’Dea seems like he might join, just depends how much Celtic want for him.  I personally think Bruce hasn’t been given a fair chance and should be retained, but Larry doesn’t seem to like him anymore, despite paying good money to sign him from Ipswich.

All the rest I wouldn’t lose any sleep over if they left.  I don’t know enough about the Turner twins or Cairns to know if they would be worth retaining.

The good news is that Rachubka, Paynter, Kisnorbo & Bromby are all signed up to the summer of 2013.  You can sleep safe tonight.
