Leeds United vice-captain Jonny Howson has received a call up to Stuart Pearce's provisional England U21 squad for the UEFA European Under 21 Championship in June.
England U21's manager Stuart Pearce has seen Howson play on multiple occasions this season and believes the United midfielder has a bright future. Howson will also be rubbing shoulders with Arsenal's Jack Wilshere, Liverpool's Andy Carroll and Manchester City's Micah Richards.
The United star is no stranger to the U21's having made his debut against Italy as recent as February in a cameo role appearance. A hamstring injury denied Howson the opportunity to add to his tally of U21 caps in March.
Howson, 22, who recently won Young Player of the Year has enjoyed a fantastic season for United, arguably his best at the club thus far, and has deservedly earned a place in Pearce's 40-man provisional squad.
