Fleetwood 2-1 Barnet

Fleetwood 2-1 Barnet Another home win against strugglers Barnet who played most of the match with 10 men. The Port Vale game made me reconsider my expectations for the seasons, and this just confirmed my belief that the squad last season was of a better standard. Manager Mellon rang the changes, bringing in Ball, Marrow and Barkhuisen. Fleetwood started sloppy and conceeded a goal with more sloppy play, following on from the Port Vale home match. The equaliser came via the pen spot with Ball ....

Fleetwood Town 4-1 Aldershot

Two goals from Junior Brown topped off a man of the match performance as he helped Town get past Aldershot. The score didn't really reflect the story of the match and could have been different had they took advantage of Dean Howell's sending off. Davies made a great penalty save to keep Fleetwood one up but could do nothing to prevent the equaliser mid-way through the first half. The second half brought an early substitution, Barkhuizen being replaced by Nicholson. The debutant looked ....

Fleetwood 0-1 Notts Forest

The first league cup match is always special for a newly promoted team into the football league. Visitors Nottingham Forest of the Championship provided a very tough hurdle. Competitive starting debuts for Howell, McLaughlin, Mawene, Nicholson, Parkin and Ball meant that many fans were trying to work out who was who! Whilst there was an obvious gap in class, it wasn't too obvious. Forrest fans must have been nervous when the two teams went in at half time 0-0. Dexter Blackstock got the all ....

Fleetwood 1-1 Wrexham

Fleetwood will have to wait 'til Friday to secure promotion to the football league. A goal from Gareth Seddon earned the home side a point in front of a capacity crowd at Highbury. Wrexham were down to ten men but showed why they are comfortably in second place in the table by almost earning a win. Scott Davies made a crucial save towards the end which means town maintain their 11 point lead at ....

Fleetwood 2-1 Grimsby

Goals from Vardy and Mangan secured the points to take Fleetwood 8 points clear at the top of the league. A crowd of 2500 saw Grimsby take a surprise lead in the first half. Managan got Town back on level terms with 15 mins remaining. Then, Vardy made sure of the win with another fantastic strike. Grimsby's play-off hope will have taken a dash after this game but nothing can stop the cod army at the moment. With Wrexham facing a tough game tonight, this week could prove to be pivotal in the ....

Fleetwood Town 4-0 Alfreton Town

Alfreton Town came to Highbury with some very underhand tactics and got exactly what they deserved in the end. From the first whistle, the front pairing of Alfreton seemed to be trying to upset the home defence with the occasional leading elbow and dig off the ball. Most of this was aimed at McNulty, who, despite his obvious appearance, managed to show his class by rising above it. On 13 minutes, Andy Mangan got on the end of a Peter Cavanagh cross and the keeper produced a fantastic save, if ....

Fleetwood Town 6-2 Ebsfleet United

Jamie Vardy struck a hat-trick as Fleetwood thumped Ebbsfleet United for six. Manager Micky Mellon's selection raised a few eye brows by selecting Gareth Seddon up front and Jamie McGuire in midfield. Both players were involved in the first two goals of the game and it was Ebsfleet who took the lead when McGuire was dispossessed in midfield. Liam Enver-Marum curled the ball beyond Scott Davies in cool fashion to make it 1-0. Town struck back immediately with Seddon tapping home a rebounded shot ....

Town Stay Top After Narrow Victory

Fleetwood kept the top spot in the Blue Square Bet Premier with a 1-0 win against Cambridge. The goal came from Andy Mangan early on after some good work from Vardy. Cambridge had their chances and Scott Davies has to be in fine form to keep Fleetwood's 10th clean sheet of the season. Jamie McGuire, who replaced Brodie, had a disallowed header towards the end but it didn't matter as Fleetwood ....
