Seagulls are getting desperate and we're only a week into this, with no scrap food waste and bins to go at they're getting desperate. I saw to attack kill and devour a pigeon in Cleveleys today. Not sure when their nesting season is but they're dangerous and going to go for anything they think they have half a chance with

Thousands of Tonnes of food worth hundreds of thousands of pounds going to waste up and down the country this week because of inconsiderate ars*holes stock piling more food than they ever needed and now its all passed its sell by date. [:(!]

They should be made to eat it in my book.

[^] for looking after ones small pets. I am sure one or two will sadly be forgotten about during this crisis.

On the food waste. I am sure a lot of food will be wasted but Is the confusing labeling on most food items these day fooling some people into throwing food away because the think that the Sell by Date is also the Eat by date?? We do have a use date on Salt ??????

Depending on what it is and how quickly taken from store to fridge/freezer food should be ok for a few days or more after the Sell by date. I always take meats etc out of the packing they are sold in as this can lessen the life of the food. The same for anything wrapped in plastic for fruit and veg. Sadly not easy to avoid these days.

Then proper food rotation, use the items that will perish first. vegetable that are still ok but need using soon could be made into a large pan of chunky soup for a lunch time meal, the rest either frozen down if space is available or cook some meat that needs using soon but still good to eat, add to the thick mix and re heat thoroughly and add good old fashioned dumplings to the mix and there is the basic for dinner. If a vegan/vegetarian or non red meat eater etc the dumplings can be made from a few simple ingredients about the kitchen avoiding suet and flavored accordingly...curry powder, chilies chopped soft herbs if you have them to hand.

The chunky mix can even be put in a pie dish and covered with pastry or in a pie dish and savory scones (no sugar and fruit) put on the top and baked in the oven ..a la Cobbler.

I live right by the Promenade. It is true the sqwarking was really loud today. The gulls are clearly struggling for food.

Ey up lads,

On this side of the pond the greedy panic buyers are a mirror image to your good selves,

Fortunately I live in the country side of New York and we are doing fine,

Stay safe and healthy my fellow Seasiders,

Bada

Guinea Pig cooked medium with a bit of Chili Sauce is rather nice, especially washed down with a decent bottle of wine.

Had Dog, Dolphin and Monkey brain as well - although not sure how many people have Monkeys or Dolphin as pets though!!

Hopefully the gulls go back and fish and the pigeons day of starvation, the rats East the pigeons and then each other with one fat one left to be poisoned.[^]

SeSide1 I totally agree that the numpties who now have not so fresh fruit n veg and bread etc should use it wherever possible. I can't stand food wastage when much of our wildlife and birds are struggling too. I am currently diversionary feeding 🦊 🦊 s to help them and I ask anyone who has spare or scrap food to put it in a bag and empty out, even in a single pile, perhaps under a tree or bush and the wildlife n birds will find it. If you walk the dogs anywhere where there are fields you will spot a suitable place. The food does not need to be binned guys. Take care and stay safe. [:X]
