Surely should have been sorted before laying track! Like building a house on land you dont own! If we built a house that broke building regs council would be on your backs straight away. Crazy. Can they not compulsory purchase?

Perhaps the millions of holidaymakers arriving at Blackpool North can negotiate a Fast track lane through Wilko's and catch the trams outside Ma Kelly's?

I was told by a manager at Wilko's at the very beginning of the works, that the build had been started before Wilkos had signed any agreement, as the council believed it was a done deal. Wilkos then realised they had them over a barrel and pushed the price up.
May not be true, but it seemed very early days that this was a clusterfcuk.

As I said on the other board, 'How long will it take for tram fares on the new stretch to recoup the 22.8M spent on it?
Not in my lifetime, and not in many others lifetimes, on here.

The Council has owned the Wilko building for quite a while now. The problem was Wilko were given a lease on a promise they would be found an alternative site. That site was delayed but the work started anyway. I believe the rush was partly due to promises made in order to secure the central government part of the funding. No insider knowledge this has all been said in local press.

We could get EU funding for it like all the Prom improvements...oh.

Forgot we voted against getting that money. I'm sure the Tories will fund it...oh.
