O/T mental health cutbacks protest

Losing my mum to mental illness (and she was a manager at an old people's day centre, cub scout leader, member of the mothers union, lovely mother and loving person so it can hit anyone at any time) keeps mental health issues close to my heart.

So I was more than happy to film this for Star Blackpool a voluntary mental health group based at Claremont Community Centre who were protesting yesterday against mental health cut backs announced by Blackpool Council.

Paul who was one of the guys forming a guard of honour for the players on Saturday invited me to film this protest and I would appreciate any of you watching, liking and sharing this on social media to help them highlight the cutbacks

Good video and a worthwhile cause, unfortunately it doesn't MAKE money for the clowncil so funding won't be given.
The sooner this Labour clowncil is ousted and more of a say is given to the people of Blackpool the better.

The Council's hand is being forced by deep, repeated and politicised cuts from central government. I don't want to be trite but the protesters should have stood outside the offices of the town's Conservative MPs. Their party is the cause of the problem.

I don't think the protest in itself would do any good at either the Town Hall or the Conservative office.

Maybe the video could help in some way because if you've ever experienced mental health issues or know someone who has then you will know you need help and you need it fast because it can very often be fatal. Depression is a real killer.

I wish I knew how to get the video out there. I would certainly be interested in doing a follow up something more hard hitting but it's as pointless as many protests are if it doesn't get seen.

Anyhow, I promised I would be there to film something for them so, I will do my best to try to get the message in the video out somehow?

Well done, Lee. It's a sad state of affairs, particularly in a town that has an above average number of people suffering from mental health issues.
I'm not sure how it could be implemented, but I've always thought that with the amount of out-of-towners either being sent here from other areas, or being drawn here for some kind of fresh start, a large number of who are already suffering from mental health issues, that other councils should contribute in some way.
Out of sight, out of mind though, unfortunately.
