Aston Villa may be one of three clubs who have had an £8.5m bid accepted by Spurs for Tom Huddlestone.

Sunderland are known to be one of the trio in pole position to sign the big midfielder, but Villa are among a small number of other Premier League clubs who have been linked with him this summer. Article continues below


Sunderland seem to be in pole position to sign Huddlestone, who has been mooted for a move to Villa alongside his White Hart Lane tram-mate Jermaine Jenas.

Bids of £8.5m has been received and accepted by Spurs from three clubs.

Sunderland are almost certainly one of the clubs, while Aston Villa and Everton are thought to be the other two.

Sunderland are also interested in Robbie Keane and Darren Bent and will apparently offer Spurs Kenwyne Jones in part-exchange.
