Steve Bruce is monitoring talk that the former West Ham man is likely to leave Villa Park this summer after falling down the pecking order under Martin O’Neill.

Reo-Coker has already been linked with a move to Spurs in a deal that could take Jermaine Jenas and / or Tom Huddlestone in the other direction.

The midfielder could be made available for transfer during the summer and Bruce is said to be interested in taking the 25-year-old to the Stadium of Light, with an offer of £6m being mooted.

The Black Cats could face competition from Tottenham, especially if the Londoners offload Didier Zokora to Sevilla in the coming weeks.
