A former Villa Park star says his old club face a much tougher battle to break into the top four next season.

Ian Taylor says it won’t just be Villa looking to break the monopoly of Ma Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal – you can add Man City and Spurs to the list of pretenders to Champions League places as well.

Taylor told Villa’s official website: ‘I definitely think they (Spurs and City) will do better than they did last season as last season was a blip for both teams.

’But although they started badly they both came back and finished in the top 10. So they are definitely going to be up there.

Whether they will be Champions League I don't know but they will definitely be challenging the likes of Villa."

Taylor turned out for Villa at last weekend's Midland Masters.
