Another game gone by and another stunning derby performance by Aston Villa. No one could have ever imagined a 5-1 victory against our bitter rivals. As Villa fans we were ecstatic, but the question remianed would this derby be a peaceful one?

Police were everywhere after the final whistle and it seemed impossible that any trouble could break out. As we walked down Trinity Road things were very peaceful. The police had done a terrific job!

The shock felt later in the day to hear that one of our very own had been mowed down in cold blood by a fellow Villa fan was staggering. Christopher Priest was on route to his local pub The Yenton Way in Erdington, when a Volkswagen Golf Careered into him at high speed seemingly killing him at the scene.

There has been no motive for the attack but police have held the accused in custody for suspicion of murder. Christopher Priest was said to be a lively, outgoing and very loyal friend, who has lost his life in the name of football. Yet again football has ended in tragedy, after such a well behaved game a life has been lost.

Since the event tributes have been flooding in to the family of Christopher at the front of his house in Erdington where there is a sea of flowers and claret and blue shirts. This tragedy has succeeded in one thing and that is uniting Villa and Birmingham fans in rounding together in support of the families left in deep shock by this tragedy.

Against Everton; Aston Villa will be wearing black armbands in memory of Christopher Priest and are also hoping to observe a minutes silence before the game.

R.I.P Christopher Priest
