Martin O'Neill is on a collision course with Stuart Pearce after the England under 21 manager left Villa facing the end of the season without their most versatile player.
Craig Gardner was complaining of groin pains during the first 20 minutes of England's match with Poland, but was forced to continue until half time which Martin O'neill feels has agravated the injury leaving Villa without a reliable right back at the club.

Olof Mellberg has been filling the position like a master all season, yet it finally seems that his big move to Juventus in the summer is now affecting his performances. Reo-Coker was torn apart by a Manchester united master class and the only other player with right back experience is the injured Curtis Davies.
It is believed that Martin O'neill may be on the verge of sending an SOS call out to Wayne Routledge who has played right back at Crystal Palace and Fulham in the past, but this is a risky step as Villa attempt to bring ther faultering Euro push back on track against Bolton Wanderers
Some newspapers today stated that Martin O'neill wanted face to face talks with Stuart Pearce but these reports were untrue. O'neill commented "oh sorry have i just ruined a story".
One thing is for certain. This is the worst possible time of the season for an injury nightmare when only a 100% record may guarantee European football in the games to come.
Can it be done?
