Karl Henry has today urged Wolves to keep hold of their star names. “It was evident that a lot of our success was built on team spirit and work ethic and it clearly wasn’t there last season. We’re not good enough to just turn up and win games with the quality of our football alone. But what got us through before was that we worked together and we were a unit. Once we lost that, we lost a large part of our positives as a team. We can definitely get it back, but everyone just needs to be on the same page. In order to do that, the club needs to look after players and keep the players they need to, because if we do, then we’ve got a great chance. It gives everyone in the squad a lift and sends out the signal that we want to get promoted as soon as possible. So I hope they do what they can to keep the players. If they start letting people go and the squad starts to disintegrate, then it’s going to be an even more difficult task.” he told the Express & Star.
But a note of optimism was added as he moved on to discuss the chance of a fresh start under Stale Solbakken- “With the new manager, I think it’s a clean slate for everyone. People feel like it’s a fresh start, but my only concern is that we realise quickly that we’re a Championship club. The quicker we get out of that Premier League mode, the better. We just need to hit the ground running.”
