Matt Paterson has turned down to moves in recent weeks and says he wants to stay with the Alan Pardew revolution and fight the big boys for his place. And let’s make no mistake about it; he has one hell of a fight on his hands to de-throne Lambert, Lallana and Connolly.

But credit to him as I think he is viewing this as a much more long term thing. If he has moved on to the Gills or the Gulls as offered, he may very well have got more first team appearances, but he would have lost working with and learning from some of the best in the business at this level. So for his long term future this is a sensible move. Well done Matt.

Meanwhile Alan Pardew has, as expected been nominated as one of four League One bosses in line to get Novembers manager of the month. His competition are all worthy with Paul Ince, Kenny Jackett and Paul Lambert also in the running. Of course we all know the superstition of winning the manager of the month and I am sure most Saints fans will be willing one of the others to win, but when you look at it, surely it has to be AP.

Paul Ince has suffered one defeat in November, at the hands of Pardew’s Saints so I would assume that is him out of the way. Paul Lambert at Norwich has done very well in November also with just one defeat, that being at run away leaders Leeds. Never the less it is still one more defeat than either Jackett or Pardew have suffered.

So I figure using this logic it has to be Millwall’s Kenny Jackett or our very own Alan Pardew. The only points Millwall dropped were at Swindon in a 1-1 draw, similar to our only dropped points being away to Orient. I am hung on this one, as it would be just reward for Alan Pardew to win this and I would be proud of him. But if it means going on a losing run, then Kenny is yer man!!

Results will be announced Saturday lunchtime on Sky Sports!
