Its easy to think how silly this really is, but if you are a local and involved in the politics, this is seen as a direct insult. Most Tories on Fareham Council hate the fact that Portchester East is a Lib Dem stronghold. The Lib Dems have fought very hard over the new community center to be built on existing site, the Tories wanted it miles away in middle of nowhere. SO already we have political battles. THen we get into personality clashes, many Tories hate the people who run the existing community center, Portchester Community Association, and vice versa. Now we get to the meeting which is to decide who will run the new community center, in comes the councillor eating, this is bad eqtiqutte and smacks of disrespect and they couldn't care less about the meeting. This was confirmed when the bid from the community school was accepted, despite number of problems with the application, including not submitting correct paperwork, yet it was literally rubber stamped and the PCA bid rejected. So to people on outside this seems a lot of nonsence, but dig a bit deeper and look at the history of politics, personal vandettas and hatred that has built up over the decades then its a little bit more to it than just someone making a simple mistake. Imagine if the queen upon meeting Martin Guinness, started munching on some food and ignored him, preferring to concentrate on eating. It would create a huge diplomatic incident and outrage.

That Tory Fareham Council Leader Sean Woodward is a right Koont - yes with a capital K. He bulldozed through the mammoth Housing Estate to be built to the North West of Fareham against the general wishes of the adjoining residents . He won't allow Yew Tree Drive (where the bus bollards are)to be opened up permanently to Whiteley traffic as it goes right past his back garden. NIMBY He threatens any council employee who says anything against him with the old tin tack if he finds out who said it - he has had it written in their contracts. The Portchester Community Association have run the existing facility for years - he doesn't want them to do it anymore - so yet again gets his own way. Do one Woodward HARD YFC !!
