The Daily Mirror quoted Peter Storrie as saying that our new investor was from the Middle East and was a wealthy individual from a family. Further elements from the rumour mill paint the investor as a Crown Prince, possibly a Saudi.

Here are some possible candidates to add to the speculation;

1. Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud
Hugely wealthy figure who was involved heavily in the controversial Al Yammamah arms deal which allegedly involved payment of huge commissions
Rumour Fit: 9 out of 10
Probability: 3 out of 10
Verdict: at 83 and very ill with cancer of the Colon he is an unlikely candidate

2. Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Alsaud

Worth $20.3 bn dollars and 50 years old he would have the money and years to transform Pompey, and he is a Saudi prince. Was rumoured to be interested in Pompey after the cup final win.

Probability: 6 out of 10
Verdict: Yes please, but probably not.
