Spanish central defender Daniel Ayala has joined Boro for an undisclosed fee after agreeing a three-and-a-half-year contract. The 23-year-old’s 93-day emergency loan from Norwich City expired earlier this week and Boro moved quickly to agree a deal with the Canaries. He becomes manager Aitor Karanka’s first permanent signing and is eligible to play against Sky Bet Championship leaders Leicester at the King Power Stadium tomorrow. It has been a busy couple of days for the transfer window revolving door at the Riverside. Full back Frazer Richardson and winger Andy Halliday are the latest poised to join the loan exodus. Meanwhile there is a collective in take of breath and finger crossing on Teesside as we wait to hear whether Daniel Ayala’s loan move has been officially rubber stamped into a permanent move. Boro boss Aitor Karanka underlined yesterday that he ideally likes only a small 23 or 24 man squad to work ....

The Juke Looking To Put The Foxes In A Spin

I met Boro forward Lukas Jutkiewicz at Outwood Academy, Acklam. Along with Muzzy Carayol he took part in a high tempo wheelchair basketball game, really throwing himself into the match. Afterwards he pause to talk about wheelchair basketball, Boro’s great run of results and looking forward to the clash of the form teams at Leicester. There is an interesting insight into the mind of a player often asked to make an impact from the bench and also what happens when you are surrounded by ....

Carayol Shooting For Success

Boro in form winger, Mustapha Carayol, would settle for 1-0s for the rest of the season if it meant promotion. A 1-0 win at Leicester would be a good way to start at the weekend. Muzzy looks forward to shooting at Foxes and then the Latics. But first he had to recover from a wheelchair basketball match. Middlesbrough FC stars Lukas Jutkiewicz and Mustapha Carayol helped a wheelchair sports club celebrate receiving £2,500 from a pioneering charity.  Tees Valley Wheelchair ....

Boro Pay Tribute To Former Chairman

Boro have paid tribute to former club chairman Alf Duffield, who passed away recently. Mr Duffield joined the board in the mid-Eighties during the darkest period in the club’s history as the team tumbled towards the third tier for only the second time. Willie Maddren was manager when he took over and it was under his chairmanship that Boro brought in Bruce Rioch, who led the club to two memorable promotions. Mr Duffield became Boro’s fourth chairman in just three years ....

Love Boro Hate Racism

Yesterday Boro fans united in a show of force to show the racists the red card. With Brighton and Boro teams and club officials proudly displayed Kick It Out badges many of the fans chose to march from the town centre behind a banner Love Boro Hate Racism. Happy Birthday And Thank You From Fly Me To The Moon

Fly Me To The Moon has just celebrated a silver anniversary. No one saw that coming when it was first typed, cut’n’paste and photo copied in November 1988. The first ever edition didn’t quite inspire the team who lost 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday at dear old Ayresome Park. The 25th birthday went rather better with a victory over Bolton Wanderers and a special commemorative edition with staples, colour cover and all the trimmings. The first fanzine came out of high powered ....

The tie will be played on the first weekend of 2014, Saturday ....
