Boro will look to the wings to defeat high flying Blackpool at the Riverside this afternoon, kick off 3pm. Can we make it a first home victory and make it back to back wins and finally get this campaign on the road?
New signing Albert Adomah will be zipping down one flank and Muzzy Carayol weaving and inside and outside off the other wing as Boro hope to bamboozle Paul Ince's Blackpool and throw them off course. Boro have still not been able to bring in any new forwards but big battling Lukas Jutkiewicz can make it three goals in three games today. Let's hope his headed goal against Charlton is the start of big returns in the Championship for The Juke.
Vsitors, Blackpool, have chalked up successive victories and only Middlesbrough stand in their way of repeating last season's feat of starting the season with three wins. Today they will be hampered without their own flying frontman, manager's son Tom Ince is suspended. Talking of wingers Matt Phillips has often caused us real panic at the back but not today as he is out with a broken arm.
Boro should also have recent signing Frazer Richardson bolstering up a very solid back line. Fingers crossed Jason Steele is fit to play in goal having limped from the field during the second half last week. The home fans will be looking forward to seeing Hungarian, Jozsef Varga, in the central role where he was quite outstanding last week in the victory at Charlton.
Boro fans will be sure to give Blackpool manager Paul Ince a warm reception, the former England man was a popular captain here at the back end of Bryan Robson's Riverside reign.
Both Boro and Blackpool fans will get a chance to celebrate the career of Gary Parkinson today. In the 25th minute supporters can show their support for Parky as he battles against Locked In Syndrome. Please feel free to applaud and sing out for Gary.
Fmttm Prediction: Boro to win 2-0. Fingers crossed. Don't forget you can toast a Boro victory after the game at the new twe12th man fans bar in the North Stand concourse. You'll see a few changes in there as it is gradually converted week by week into a fan friendly zone. Season ticket holders can redeem their vouchers there after the final whistle. All Boro fans, from any stand and holding any ticket are very welcome.
