Keith Alexander is thought to be ruling his beedy little eye over former Rotherham and Grimsby goalkeeper Gary Montgomery. The 26 year old was released from Blundell Park towards the end of last season and it is thought that he attracted Keef's interests before the end of last season. Montgomery began his career at Coventry City before moving to Rotherham back in 2003 as understudy to Mike Pollitt. He was to make 35 appearances for The Millers before being signed by Grimsby back in 2007. He made 5 appearances for The Mariners before leaving the club by mutual consent last March. Keef is on the look out for someone to act as competition for Brainy and Montgomery is thought to be one of the front runners at the moment. With seven subs permitted to sit on the bench this season, the gaffer will surely revise his closely held philosophy of not including a reserve goalkeeper as one of his substitute options.
