Anyone remember that Tuesday night game against Sheffield United on a Tuesday night a few seasons back when the Blades absolutely battered us? Well, the one player who stood out a mile that night was a certain Jonathan Stead who at the time many a Blackpool fan could only dream would ever join the Seasiders at Bloomfield Road.

Well, now that dream looks as if it could become a reality. The unsettled Ipswich striker is reported to be in talks with Ian Holloway about a possible move to the seaside. Somewhat predictably with Blackpool fans this summer, the reaction has been somewhat mixed! Here's some of the comments:

Hannibal_de_Seaside: Raise your horizons, we are in the Premier League now. I wouldn't get excited about him even if we hadn't won at Wembley.

Tangerine_Misfit: He is a local lad (Blackburn) so maybe a move closer to home would suit him? Much better player than Hulse or Jeffers. I would be happy if we put a bid in for him.

Tango1953: No thanks, on circa 25k per week at Ipswich and barely cutting it at Championship level.

Tangomango: He would be a better target man than BBB and Olly is looking for someone in that mould. Certainly a step up but not sure whether its a big enough one.

il_postino: A huge improvement on Jeffers, will do the Burgess job, and i would think he would do it better. He is also excellent value for money at that price and he still has a career ahead of him

I actually agree with those who think he can make an impact at Bloomfield Road and with a goal/game ratio of almost 1 in 4 he is not only a supplier, he's also a scorer. We await to see if there's any truth in the rumour but Stead would be a welcome addition to the Seasiders squad.
