So the season starts again and I along with my better half made the trip down to Southampton courtesy of some dirt cheap train tickets from megabus. Can't go wrong with 6 quid each way!

Had some beers on the train which made the trip a bit more bearable, it's only a couple of hours down there.

The station is not far from the high street and so we had a walk up to find the Weatherspoons where I knew a few Arsenal boys would be. I few Jaegers and fosters later and we had made the pub our own, singing and generally making asses of ourselves as you do.

We got a cab to the stadium and I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. On the TV the pictures of St Mary's always make it look like a very good stadium, I likened it to the Stadium of Light without the upper tier. Still, it's a top stadium for Southampton and I'm looking forward to seeing it full for our Premiership game.

Now onto the football, if I'm being completely honest I can't remember to much about any of the games. The first one was between Anderlecht and Southampton. It was already 1-0 to Anderlecht when we got in and I don't believe I saw any other goals scored, from what I remember. A beer after the game and we found our seats ready for the Arsenal. Now with what I remember I think Eastmond and Lansbury both had good games, Eisfield was busy and I shouted at Chamakh a fair bit. We won 1-0 and I was happy. I tried to go downstairs and get another beer but the Arsenal had drunk them dry and it took ages so I gave up. The second game gets harder, I can't remember a lot and I had to leave after 30 mins, I didnt see a goal or the pens but we won the tournament so its all good.

The trip home is a blur, I bought a 4 pack for the train home and had a chicken kebab. I should really focus more on the football, I spend loads of money following the team about and half the time get so drunk that can't even remember the games. I will work on this and let you all know how I get on.

Safe trip to all the boys flying out to China and Koln.

Up the Arsenal.......
