Firstly, Usmanov’s ‘leaked’ letter may seem unprofessional and any problems that Red & White Holdings have should be behind closed doors and discussed between them and the Board, But Ivan Gazidis speaks publicly about Red & White so they do deserve the right to reply. However, this is a letter that a lot of us have all needed to hear. For years we have been kept in the dark about who is actually to blame for us constantly selling our best players year after year, while as they leave the club they all carry on questioning the club’s direction.
Usmanov clearly states that he believes the board should be held accountable and not Arsene Wenger – which I feel that most fans, deep down, want the blame to lay. He puts it down to the board’s prudent policy adding extra, un-needed pressure on Wenger as stated below:
“The real conflict seems to be between the supporters’ expectations and the vision for your club and at the heart of this is the policy of so called self financing.”
“As a consequence of this policy, which is dressed up as prudent financial planning, it is down to our manager to have to deal with the clubs tight financing and carry the burden of repaying the stadium debt by selling his best players and having to find cheaper replacements”.
“You can try and put a good face on a bad game for as long as you want, pontificating about the merits of this policy, but it will not hide the obvious fact that it just does not allow our great manager to fully realise his managerial talent and deliver success for the fans who are paying the highest prices in the land”.

Some will say that that Usmanov has waited for Robin van Persie to state he will not be renewing his contract at Arsenal for this letter to be sent to the board. But what difference does that make? The problem was there before and it still remains. He would always have got a reaction like this and you can hardly blame someone who has invested £200 million into a company for having their say.
If Usmanov does come in, this could establish how good a football manager Arsene Wenger currently is. For years he has always had an excuse – having no money to buy players with and having to sell our best. That would all change. Wenger would finally have the dollar needed to improve the squad, current position and challenge for trophies. If this fails, then there is only one man to blame.
I'm all for change at The Arsenal, as the current situation we are in isn’t healthy. Although the club needs to be run in the correct way (not like Chelsea or Manchester City), it is important that the club heads in the right direction on and off the pitch. By issuing a share rights the club would be able to compete and comply with FFP. This doesn’t mean however that I would want The Arsenal to start splashing £50Million offers out on players and offering £250,000 wages – there is a middle ground. However, that is my opinion and I do get that some won’t agree and believe we need to be like Chelsea and Man City to compete. This is where I think having Wenger would help the club financially. But then, that’s not his job!
As a side note it was very funny to see Red and White holdings point out to Ivan Gazidis that whilst not wanting them on the board he is very happy to cold call a company half owned by Mr Usmanov tapping them up for sponsorship, school boy error there Ivan !
Anyway, we now all await a response from Stan Kroenke or like Ivan Gazidis is he currently on hoilday........Ehum......
